xamples of refurbishments completed by our customers using TRG cloths & Rexine.

This page is used for our customers to show off their refurbishments that use our cloth and rexine.

First up is Mark Ryder.

I recently aquired a BSR UA14 record deck and speakers from a 1960s radiogram with a view to using the parts to build a Dansette style record player from scratch. I have previously refurbished wind-up gramophones but this was my first move into electrics.
Having made a template from the radiogram for the record deck, I started constructing a cabinet using a mix of 9mm ply and mdf.
I looked at lots of images on the internet to get an idea on how it could look.
The first photograph shows the cabinet constructed using an original speaker and grill from the radiogram. Also I managed to purchase a set of Dansette legs on eBay.
I then built and fitted an amplifier, refurbished the record deck and can now play 33/45/and 78s using the original crystal cartridge with new styli.
I now needed to give it the "Dansette vintage look".
Retrospecialist Traditional Radio Grilles were able to supply cream and red paper backed rexine which came with really helpful advice on how to use. Once the cabinet was covered, I also ordered a white handle which looks really great against the red rexine.
The second photograph shows the completed record player which hopfully demonstrates what kind of finish can be achieved.

Well done Mark! What a great job and shows what some dedication and our rexine can achieve - Russell & Sid.

Ian Cooper of Norwich Restore has also sent some pictures of various restoration projects and we have the pleasure of showing some of them here with a few words.

"The 1960`s  Alba is a model A11,  (Valves UL84,UY85) the original covering was grey and blue which was looking a bit tired so I decided to liven it up a bit, So I recovered it in Yellow and Black rexine."

"The Dansette Conquest was in a bad way when I got hold of this"

Thanks Ian for those! How wonderful to see these old classics brought back with such skill. - Russell & Sid.
